Collections consists of correspondence (both incoming and carbon copies of outgoing), memorandums, circulars, news releases, newspaper clippings, brochures, programs, invitations, conference agendas, invoices, biographical sketches, and outlines of proposed programs

These consist of copies of original letters, diaries and reminiscences which are on file in the department. When the department had a separate Civil War Records Section, the original collections were located in that section. When the Civil War Records Section was abolished, the originals were deposited with the curator of the Manuscripts Division of the department, and these copies were placed with the Civil War Miscellany materials.

These consist of lists of men in some Georgia battalions/regiments. There are some for out-of-state units. Brief summaries of the activities of the men in these units and/or the activities of the units may be included.

These consist of copies and/or typescripts of letters, diaries and reminiscences written by the soldiers and/or their families. These have been donated to the department by private individuals.

This series consists of information on various subjects relating to the Civil War period. Some were donated by individuals, others were copied by the staff from periodicals and Civil War publications and state materials.

This series contains original, unbound papers which formed portions of civil case files including, but not limited to: (1) debts (2) summonses (3) fieri facias (4) complaints (5) distress warrants (6) bail bonds (7) attachments (8) promissory notes (9) affidavits (10) assumsits.

This series consists of a bound volume which provides documentation of some of the civil cases filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented in this volume includes (1) date and term of court, (2) names of attorneys involved, (3) case number, (4) names of litigants, (5) type of charge complained of and (6) disposition of case. Some of the charges complained of include those of assumpsit, distress warrant and attachment.

Motion dockets document cases which are decided by the judge without intervention of a jury. This series is composed of a bound volume containing such recorded complaints. Information presented in this volume includes (1) date and term of court, (2) names of attorneys involved, (3) case number, (4) names of litigants, (5) type of motion plaintiff pleas for and (6) disposition of case. Some of the motions plead for include those for a new trial, show cause order and to dismiss attachment.

This series is composed Of unbound records found in the bound volumes that comprise Series 2 of this Record Group and are part of those case files.

This series is composed of bound volumes which contain documentation of some of the civil complaints filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed and the issuing of subpoenas to aid in judging those complaints. Information presented in these volumes includes (1) names of persons subpoenaed and dates such subpoenas were issued, (2) names of litigants and (3) names of attorneys (often not given).

Information presented in these volumes includes (1) date and term of court, (2) names of attorneys involved, (3) case number, (4) names of litigants, (5) type of charge complained of and (6) disposition of case.

Subpoena dockets document the civil and criminal complaints filed in the court. This series is composed of bound volumes which document criminal complaints filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed below. Information presented in these volumes includes the (1) date and term of court, (2) names of attorneys involved, (3) names of defendants, (4) case number (usually not given), (5) date subpoena was handed to Sheriff for serving and (6) names of witnesses.

This series consists of a single bound volume documenting the recording of the property transactions in the county for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented in this volume includes (1) name of grantor, (2) name of grantee, (3) instrument used (such as deed, mortgage, bond), (4) date of transaction, (5) date transaction was recorded and (6) book and page number in which transaction was recorded.

This series consists of bound volumes that document the names of registered voters in the county for the inclusive dates listed below. This series is similar to series 3 and 5 of this Record Group but does not include as much information. Information that is presented includes (1) name and number of the Georgia Militia District in which the voters are registered, (2) name of each voter, (3) date of certification, (4) names of registrars, and (5) designation of voter's race.

This series is composed of bound volumes which document the names of the voters registered in this county for the inclusive date span listed below. Information presented in these volumes includes (1) the Georgia Militia District number and name in which voters registered, (2) name of registered voter, (3) designation of race to which voter belonged, (4) age, (5) occupation, (6) remarks and (7) date of list.

This series is composed of a single bound volume which documents the names of tax defaulters for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented in this volume includes the (1) names of tax defaulters, (2) dates for which taxes are owed and (3) amount of money owed by each.

Series consists of manuscript copies of original acts of Georgia's colonial assembly.

Series includes two volumes of commissions, oaths, and other records of state government, including Georgia's officially-recorded copy of the Declaration of Independence.

This series consists one volume of registered claims. Each entry provides the name of the claimant, number of acres claimed, a description of the land, and the name of the original grantee. Some entries include the date of the original grant and a chain of title. The volume is indexed.

This series consists of estate records including letters of administration, administrator's bonds, petitions for guardianship, bonds of guardianship, warrants of appraisement, appraisals and inventories of estates, and accounts of the sale of estates.
